Chinese New year comes with many traditions that are often practiced not only by Chinese people but also those who celebrate the Chinese New Year. These traditions are believed to bring good luck for the coming new year.

Clean the house from all the clutter. If you can turn the house upside down just to make sure everything is clean; then it would be much better. Since it seems to be impossible; you need to make sure that the house is clean from top to bottom, left to right and front to back. It will clear any bad luck that you had for the past year and allowing more space for the good luck to come inside your house. Everything should be done before New Year’s day to make sure that you won’t be throwing any luck away from your home.
Sticky rice and sweets are also part of the Chines new year tradition; family eat together on new year’s eve and sticky rice represents family always bonded together. Sweets means happiness in the family. So evey Chinese New Year you can see these foods on the table.
Give away good luck gifts; these gifts would include red envelopes with money inside it. This tradition symbolizes wealth and prosperity for the coming new year.
Buy new clothes and create a new look. If you have old clothes inside your closet that you rarely use, remove it from the closet and donate it. In buying new clothes, consider buying a Chinese dresses for girls or wear something red. Black is definitely a big NO during Chinese new year celebration.
