Malachite is one of those colorful stones that is said to have unusual powers. If you are having trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep try wearing a malachite necklace to bed. Such a necklace is said to increase your sense of peacefulness and reinforce sleep.

In a similar show of power, if pieces of Malachite are placed in the four corners (all corners, if more than four) of an office building customers will be drawn into the building.

Malachite is a copper carbonate mineral, with the formula Cu2CO3(OH)2. Individual crystals are rare but do occur as slender to acicular prisms. Malachite was used as a mineral pigment in green paints from antiquity until about 1800. It is also used for decorative purposes, such as in the Malachite Room in the Hermitage, which features a large malachite vase. “The Tazza”, one of the largest pieces of malachite in North America and a gift from Tsar Nicholas II, stands as the focal point in the center of the room of Linda Hall Library.

In Israel, Malachite is extensively mined at Timna valley, often called King Solomon’s Mines, although research has revealed an interruption in mining activity at the site during the 10th century BC, the time of the biblical Solomon. Archeological evidence indicates that the mineral has been mined and smelted at the site for over 3,000 years. The finest pieces of Timna’s current production are worked into silver jewelry. In ancient times, bracelets of Malachite were believed to ward off lightning, and witchcraft.

Malachite is really good for salesmen and saleswomen if worn on the person. Some say it is the salesperson’s stone. It is believed to bring protection, power, love, and tranquility. Traditionally, over the ages people wore malachite to discover oncoming evil and also to ward it off. They say that when danger is near malachite breaks into pieces to warn the wearer of potential difficulty ahead.

Gemstone Meaning Question

David asks…

Can you help me research gemstones?

Does anyone know any good sites that list meanings of gemstones or what they are used for? For example Aventurine is a luck stone and can be used to attract money. If you know a bunch of them and can list their uses, I would accept that too. If you send me a link and you know some important ones I should focus more attention on can you include them in your answer? thank you!
There is no need to be ignorant. You believe what you believe and i’ll continue what I do. end of discussion.
